This project allowed me to really understand how to manipulate the sun. I never thought about using an umbrella until this tutorial I saw, which used one in order to add more to the photograph. It was a unique twist to the normal silhouette of a girl. After the photo was taken, I edited the photograph in camera raw and photoshop, where the vibrance of the red umbrella was made. Also, the darkness was created in photoshop. I learned a lot from this project in how to manipulate the sun and edit the photo in order to create a compelling silhouette.
The success of Frans Lanting comes with the many principles of photography that he implements in his work. This jaguar photograph captivates the eye for many reasons. One is thanks to the rule of thirds, which is when the subject is aligned with the guide lines and their intersection points, placing the horizon on the top or the bottom line. This creates a compelling photograph in which the viewer is drawn to the jaguar's eye. There is also a color pop that is present as the cheetah has a contrasting orange/yellow color next to the green leaves.
